ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS: The 5 Gyres Institute, which has discovered plastic pollution in each of the world’s oceans, makes a stop in Wilmington on The Last Straw Plastic Pollution Solutions Outreach Tour. Learn more about the issues and solutions by joining in one or all of the following events on Thursday, Nov. 1: A welcome reception at 11:30am at the UNCW amphitheater with music by Jason Andre; a cleanup of a portion of the River to Sea bike route begins at 4pm at Tidal Creek Co-op (5329 Oleander Drive); and a presentation about the research 5 Gyres Institute in Room 134 in UNCW’s Dobo Hall.
